Hello friends! Captain Adventure Scrubs here, fresh from a little break and ready to tackle all things travel nursing.  While California has always been a big draw for nurses ready to make that money, other destinations can also provide a combination of compensation,  beautiful locales, and unforgettable experiences to make any traveler happy. De Young Museum Review

Gather round children! We are about to become more cultured here at CA Scrubs. Today’s adventure takes me to the De Young Museum, located in beautiful Golden Gate Park. Home to magnificent pieces of art that showcase  the creativity of several cultures across the globe, the De Young is a wonderful place to spend a few hours or the whole day.
My dear friends on the internet, is Captain Adventure Scrubs  a cultured person? No. Do I know anything about art history or art theory? Nope. But I do know that the power of art is its ability to  stir our emotions, provoke a visceral reaction and make us think. My favorite pieces at the De Young were not necessarily the most beautiful,  but were the ones that spoke to me, invoked an emotional response or gave me a fresh perspective.  Like this one here:

Or how about this?

What does this horny fellow want?

Does this sculpture remind you of anyone?

I would tell you how each made me feel, but I think of viewing art as a personal experience. Two people can view the same piece of art but see two entirely different things.  So do yourself a favor and visit the De Young Museum while you are in San Francisco. Walk among the exhibits, grab a set of headphones and listen to one of their tours. Head up to level nine to get an amazing view of the city. You will be glad you did.
